Dev to PM

Recently I started loving Product Manager role. Ever since I started developing features independently I felt its good to work as PM as I had to talk with other fellow senior developer, designers and to do knowledge transfer with Marketing and Support team. I want to jump to other companies for PM position. What are the suggestions to get started with PM role and make the switch properly. Planning to switch in next 1 year.
