I am a dev, and like devops, CICD stuff a lot. Have a comcast onsite coming up, the format looks similar to what a typical sde interview. Based on tech talks they have been doing over the last couple of years - heavy pivotal, concorse focus. My experience is all AWS, haven’t done much cloudfoundary. Not much help from glassdoor. Any tips on how I should prepare for onsite? What should I know about the culture? yoe:8 tc: need another job
Depends on the group and role for the interview and culture! But you typically would be interviewing with the people you would actually work with day to day, you’ll get an indication of culture from them. The interviews aren’t hard if you know your stuff. There are a lot of smart people here, they’ll see right through it if you lie. But certainly be prepared to talk about scale and reliability, we aren’t google sized, but you’d be surprised at the size and complexity just to watch tv. We are doing a lot of concourse and AWS right now, plus we operate some of our own DCs as well. I love it here actually. WLB is good, pay is good, new building in philly is awesome.
Thank you so much for sharing. The person I spoke with was awesome. I have seen many companies bs-ing around how much open source means to them, but no contributions upstream! Here the job description has contribution upstream! I was very upfront that I love doing this though I am not a devops. And have no intention of hiding anything. Folks on my panel are conference speakers - talking about monads and functional programming! Very excited - trying not to screw up another onsite.
Good luck! Hope it goes well.
