Development experience on M2 Macs
Looking to upgrade my current Intel MacBook Pro, but honestly torn between something like a System 76 laptop or an M2 based MacBook Pro. My main requirements would be the following: Ability to use Docker for containers Virtual Box or equivalent for an isolated Windows VM Rust development AWS CLI, and AWS Sam usage Android and Web dev The first two around docker and VMs are what I’m primarily concerned about giving the M2 ARM arch. Anyone have any experience with M1/2 with similar dev environment and can offer some feedback? #hardware #mac #dev
System 76 are stuck with HD monitor - such a shame. I would go m2 and reshape a bit your workflow and move some stuff on an external env cloud or a desktop machine under your desk.
m2 is a complete bust for your requirements.
Any specifics as to why
Only problem I heard is tensorflow
There’s an Apple port of Tensorflow for ARM now, but yes it is a pain to setup and follow a lot of what is written online related to tensorflow Pytorch seems to work pretty well though
