Devops background getting ignored for SWE positions

I have 4 yoe total, 3 in Devops 1 in Development ,currently doing SRE and I feel like my applications are getting thrown out for most SWE spots at FAANG. I've even gotten a couple of referrals to Amazon with no response as well. I'd like to make the transition into more dev related positions and feel I can get past the interviews, bit I can't seem to get one. Any ideas?
