Hey all, I'm currently a devops engineer at my current company with 1 yr of experience under my belt making ~130k TC in a high COL area and I'd like to make a career change to SRE or SWE. I have a CS degree which I got last year and I settled for the devops position as it was one of my first acceptances. However, I've been practicing leetcode and I believe with the current skillset that I have in docker/kubernetes and CI/CD along with programming, I should be aiming at higher compensation opportunities. I guess I'm just looking for advice and any tips you'd like to share regarding my thoughts and decisions. Any help or advice on interviewing for SRE roles appreciated:) #sre #software #swe #devops #referralexchange #referral
System design gets pretty important in an sre and even swe role. Some will ask more in depth cloud experience for SRE.
Go try.
