Considering an offer from Imperva, which was acquired by Thoma Bravo about 3 years ago. Being told that there will be some sort of an exit within the next year. Any truth to it? Is it a good place to build your career? TC: 190K

What role, what product, etc?
Never heard of this company
Unless you are C-Suite , you will get nothing on a PE exit
Appreciate it. Do you have first hand experience of this?
Friends who were top performers at Digicert got nothing on Bravo acquisition and exit
Worked that deal and consulted after, STAY THE F*@k away FROM THOMA BRAVO. Worst PE on the planet morally, do not get involved. Also that’s cute you think they’d let you capture literally any of their exit $$, that’s not how the PE industry works
Spill the deets!
They’re just awful people. Great at making money, but bad people. Basically think of all the things Bernie sanders hates, and these guys are the embodiment of that. Also they love firing people lol so it’s not a great environment for the lower level folks
A general rule of thumb is PE owned companies are a terrible career choice until you are at the C-Suite level, where you’d actually get to hob-knob with them a bit and get into their network. To lower level folks, you’re just working at a company that penny pinches at every opportunity and gives shit bonuses and raises
No two deals are they same. They have a different playbook depending on the situation. I am very happy with my comp, bonus and equity since we were taken private but your mileage can and will vary. The philosophy isn’t to spread high comp and equity across the board, it’s targeted to management and rockstar ICs.
I only know Johnny bravo
