Hello everyone, I am an European citizen working in Hong Kong. During the pandemic (convinced by the political situation) I finally decided to leave my job and try to apply to a FAANG and move to the US. I have spent the last 4 months studying for the technical interview, but as with many others, the H1-B visa ban made my plans .. uncertain. I am wondering if the big companies (Google, Amazon, Apple, etc.) are still interviewing foreigners. Maybe for remote jobs till the situation changes. Or should I just apply to a branch in another country? #workvisa #h1b
Not stopped for Apple. I know a few people who recently received offers.
I have been doing the same for the last 1-2 months. No luck I am afraid. Companies don’t want to deal with visa in this climate. And now that layoffs are happening, there is a huge talent pool available locally. So your chances decrease significantly.
I am looking for business roles in big tech in Europe, it seems to be pretty tough at the moment
Faang is always open to anyone who are great leet coders.
Hmm I'm moving from UK to HK soon. Wanted to do the US move but was also hindered by the visa ban. Out of interest which industry do you work in?

Since you are European, an easier way to avoid the h1b stress for you might be to get a job at FAANG in Europe. None of the below have a hiring freeze to the best of my knowledge. Facebook London, Ireland, Switzerland Amazon UK, Germany, Luxembourg, Ireland Apple UK and Switzerland Google Ireland, UK, Switzerland You can work there for a year or two and get a way to move internally. Maybe it will (hopefully) be easier as covid eases in a year or so.
