Applying for a Sr. API Integrations role for Adobe’s newest software acquisition: Workfront. I have 4 YOE implementing and integrating Workfront (pre-acquisition) for an IT consulting company. Recruiter called me last week - says I’m “the best” candidate she’s talked to, specifically because my YOE is in Workfront. Recruiter asks comp expectations, and I said “120-130” before realizing that specifying a lower range is a rookie mistake because recruiters will always pick the lower end. Thinking about it now - the role is titled Sr, I’ve got 4 YOE in the same product/process, did I lowball myself? TC is $120k base + upto 15% variable ($18k) = $138k max potential. #tech #Adobe #Workfront #consulting #saas
Should I wait for an offer to negotiate? Is $140-$150 achievable?
Well you haven’t gotten offer yet and i don’t think you have to commit to accepting anything below what’s you really want or think is reasonable.
Sounds like he already got the offer. They gave him 120 which is his low.
At a minimum, you should be able to negotiate to the midpoint of the range you specified. That's not terrible for permanent remote in Dallas. What was your previous TC? In other words, how much of a bump are you getting?
Current TC is $80k so I’m not sure if I should feel like a jerk for trying to negotiate a 50% increase, but if I also don’t want to lowball myself. Am I being greedy?
And yes, it’s a good salary for remote in Dallas. I just came off a last round rejection for a Sales Engineer role @ Square where their offer was $140k base. So now I figure I just ask for $140 🤷🏽♂️
If it was out of Seattle or California I’d def think you lowballed, but since it’s dallas it’s probably reasonable
I wouldn't worry much until the offer. Good companies have a salary range for a role, so if at your level it's between 150-180k, you won't be offered below that number. Having said that, not knowing levels at Adobe, for your reference, level 3 base is about $140k
You never give a range, should’ve just said $140K ( or do the research on range for role )
Yeah, I figured that out
Don’t feel bad, I did what you did for a FAANG company, once upon a time ago
It's case by case but the only sure way to overcome that is by getting competing offers.
Location? Do you also happen to know the job code?
Remote out of Dallas
