#telecom #tmobile #gsa The large list of excluded roles doesn’t make sense. Require call center (working at home) but not retail? Retail has the most diverse contact with people. Watch to see if any TMO or GSA announcements after the April date (April 2?). Maybe they need to fall in line with Administration desires to win big Fed contracts.
The prevailing theory amongst employees is that it's a convenient way to lay a large number of people off without looking bad. Post-merger there wasn't a significant layoff and there's role redundancies, especially at the corporate level, so this is an easy way out.
That's not completely accurate. Marketing lost hundreds of folks after the merger. Consumer sales, TFB, IT, HR, etc. all lost folks who had duplicate roles. Some were rehired in new roles but most received packages. That doesn't include the thousands that were let go from both sides prior to the merger. I think the mandate is the result of employee surveys where SLT is getting ripped for destroying the TMO culture...and they view the best way to restore that culture is by being in-person...but they can't/won't take the risk with unvaccinated employees.
