I am quite experienced engineer (director level in Bay Area startup) with good projects and linkedin profile. But I have never been contacted by faang recruiters directly. What is wrong with me?!
I applied without a referral. Is your LinkedIn shitty?
It looks good to me, I hv lots of inquires but just not from faang.
FAANG recruiters hit based on a fixed set of keywords - most commonly Undergrad college, Grad college, current company for people with <= 5 yrs of experience. For people with > 5 yrs of experience, they look at Job Progression, Articles/Media about you, Patents (occasionally) and of course your area of work.
Great answer, thx!
Make it a poll. Maybe your experience is not summarized correctly and doesn’t seem relevant to fang companies, when they try to find candidates
Lol. “Everything” would be a great answer to poll.
I work at WalmartLabs. The brand value is extremely hot in India, like better than Google India, but here in the US, I assume it's one of the worst engineering brands. Nevertheless, I have received messages from recruiters at Facebook, Google, Airbnb, Amazon, Uber, LinkedIn, Snap and a bunch of startups. Even after I told them I am on L1 and cannot change employers, they got back to me the next year to enquire if I got H1.
Good for you! Anything special about you? Articles, patents, polished LinkedIn profile? Did not know WalmartLabs is toxic brand.
It might be your tech skills are more relevant.
Dude You are a director. At your level, it's more of referrals than HR asking you to interview. LinkedIn is good for souls like us who cram leetcode to bump us their TC by 10-15k
You might be too senior. 3-8 years is the sweet spot for engineers that are being put under management at the companies you are trying to be recruited for.
I’m a security engineer. I‘ve never been hit up by FAANG. I applied to FAAG on their career website with my resume and got call backs by all recruiters. I think recruiters for specialized or higher up reqs don’t go on LinkedIn and spam people. LinkedIn messages is for those that cast a wide net. Most LinkedIn messages I get even for other companies are about jobs I don’t even want. I think it’s because my friends endorsed me for skills that are irrelevant to my work. Unfortunately LinkedIn is supplementary to my resume.
They contact me. Every single week. Even after I’ve told them multiple times that I’m not interested. It’s getting to the point of borderline harassment.
Recruiters only want the best talent.
Fair enough. But then they suck to find it most of time.
