Nope. Unions are more trouble than theyโre worth, and with them, we would effectively be making much less than what we already make now. There would also be more gatekeepers and red tape to deal with. The strike is great, but UPS drivers are still underpaid compared to most tech positions, and when you factor in other things such as the hours and working conditions, it doesnโt really make the field more competitive or interesting to join. Just stay the course and keep your skills profitable and youโll be just fine. TC: 90K

Union feels different and unnecessary for me as a SWE. I'm not sure why. I support them in general and joined one in grad school for TAing, but it really just never felt necessary... Although the Google layoffs were so poorly handled maybe we should have one... I just got a promo and still feel a twinge of fear every time my computer logs me out and a page doesn't load, or a when I swipe my badge wrong and a door does r open. Feels like I've lost my innocence at G a little, and it's really sad.
