Between virtue signaling on LinkedIn, complaining in Blind, and whining at the beginning and the end of every meeting, it looks like a large group of techies and mainly Googlers forgot why the paychecks arrive: WORK! I'm not suggesting RTO. On the contrary: getting a bunch of complainers together in the office is not helping at all. People should return to work instead of just returning to the office. In companies like Google, the return to office is becoming a disaster. The googlers arrive in the morning, and go for a long breakfast, complaining about the lack of vegan-equivalent eggs. Then they will attend a meeting, which starts with a cheap talk about a nightmare of being laid off, or the hardship of changing a light bulb at home yesterday. After a couple of excuses about why nothing gets done, it is lunchtime. Rinse and repeat, and then there is the dinner before jumping into the bus trip back home, during which they will complain about the difficulty of selecting what to watch tonight on the many streaming services! TC: Not enough to deal with these crying babies all day long! #layoff #lifeatgoogle #google
Lol lovely story. Agree with the sentiment, but the reality is, these people don't work, likely have never worked, and most likely never will in the future. Pareto distributions are a thing and very much apply to productive output of employees within organizations.
Whiners will always find a way to complain about something, they are never satisfied. If you give them wfh, then they will find something else to whine about.
Yeah, kind of like the ones whining about wanting people to RTO. The goalposts always moving.
Nothing like a couple of layoffs to humble us all. No one at Meta complains about the single ply toilet paper anymore
Worst thing about RTO is the lack of bidets
They’re still complaining about snacks in the micro kitchen. 🙄 Guess we need to keep getting through these additional rounds to truly be humbled. Lol
They dont pay you enough to post about this bro, relax
You should just come to amazon… there is no time in your day to eat twice or have a conversation, without risk of missing your 1 week deadline to do 1 months worth of work. Your post proves you’re just as “bad” as your coworkers. Stfu.
Yet, you also have time to complain at Blind...
Typing with my toes. It’s part of onboarding here.
I'm confused. I always thought my paycheck arrived due to something called a contract. If you want to work hard go to a farm or something idgaf.
I have never experienced lines for a restroom except during the official RTO in Apr 22. Nobody came in until the Jan layoffs. Fewer people come in every day. Once people have security and focus from leadership, they will get back to work wherever they work best and most managers simply won't care.
I think this post only explains why some Googlers suck, but pretty sure most Googlers are not that lame.
“Return to work ?” But who are you ? Why are you giving order ? You stop posting and go to work.
Lol. You forget the part where they laid off people whether they were hard workers or not. Bootlickers and day-in-the-lifers alike across tech got their careers (and sponsorships) wiped out… via an email. What you’re describing is the fallout from people being embarrassed. They learned that tech companies are no different from any other cog & wheel organization. You’re just a number. No mission. No meritocracy. You can be selected at any time. Period. So why work any harder than you need to? Return to Office… meet Return to Common Sense.
“Why work any harder than you need to?” That hits hard 💯
That’s why I love wfh Rto is so inefficient. Having all those trash hallway conversations
Muh watercooler
Exactly this. The only way I can get work done is by not going to work.
