I've been doing LC for the past couple months and feel pretty comfortable with LC easy/mediums. However, I'm worried about how hard it is to get interviews. I've taken 2 grad CS courses, and data structures/algorithms. I was a teaching assistant for one of the grad CS courses but I don't have a CS degree nor any internship experience. Coursework was done at an Ivy if that means anything. Should I just apply with referrals and hope I get invited to interview? Or should I try to take more courses/develop more experience? I heard Microsoft/Amazon are more open to hiring non-tech backgrounds for SWE positions. How true is this? #amazon #microsoft #interview #resume #resumescreen
If I were you, I’d start padding out the CV with personal technical projects, contributions to open source etc. Bloomberg used to have a ‘long-form’ program where they hired from non-CS backgrounds for SWE roles, but not sure if that is still happening.
In such a long post you didnt mention what was your major. Was it Arts? Minimal chance for SDE interviews.
