Is it possible to become a digital nomad (working remote from all over the world) while working for FAANG or similar? If so, what companies will allow this? I am also okay with having a permanent address somewhere and travel for 6 months of the year while working from the address for the other 6 months. AFAIK google only allows fully remote if you specify the location you will be working from.
Permanent address in several 0 income tax states is basically free lol (~10k/year or less).
Am currently in WA. Can you say your permanent address in a certain state and then work from elsewhere in the country for 6 months of the year? Does FB allow this?
FB allows full time remote work so yea. My team has a few full remote people living in middle of nowhere.
I am doing since pandemic started a year and a half ago. Is it official? Not really. But with everyone working from home, no one cares or notices it
Where at?
Where?
It is not that simple. First, for international locations you would need work permit if you want to work for more than a few weeks. And in many cases you may need your employer to sponsor your permit. Of course, you can work illegally but that always carries a risk. Second, you have to check if your company has a appropriate tax entity there, to withhold your taxes and pay the government. Often, this would mean setting up a LLC in that country. Again, if you can choose to not tell your company that your working from Bali, but there is a chance you can get fired if govt comes after FB for taxes
I know someone who lost a job at Cisco for working from india.
