Im seeing a bunch of layoff posts on LinkedIn about Disney. Did something happen? I thought you guys had a good year with park reopening? #disney #layoff #severance
My guess is it’s not the parks but it’s their streaming services ESPN, Disney+, etc. but someone please confirm. Weird thing is Disney isn’t even really tech imo…
I saw gaming on LinkedIn - I would have to assume it was Disney+ too
Oh wow didn’t even know they had gaming stuff
Next Generation Storytelling (Disney's metaverse) was cut today.
Sounds like everyone is realizing metaverse is a flop at the same time. Sad that these people were sold a vision and cut.
Meanwhile apple about to give their beer to hold
Assuming streaming based on the amount of money they lose
If they were wise with their investment, decisions. Could have been good.
Sucks. Hope everyone gets a gig soon
Not Disney pls

Anybody know what was offered for severance? Can’t imagine it was close to what some of the top tech companies offered.
1 week severance for every year worked. Sad offering.
@hulu if that’s true then its borderline insulting. I know that some industries do not have good severance packages but thats the worst that I’ve heard so far.
No impact to Pixar right?
Yes Disney will start laying off employees this week, CEO Bob Iger says in memo https://www.cnbc.com/2023/03/27/disney-layoffs-bob-iger-memo.html?__source=iosappshare%7Ccom.apple.UIKit.activity.CopyToPasteboard
Wow so basically the Bob screwed up and not everyone gets burned? Trash ceos. Sorry to hear this. I have been out of the loop. Internally I only hear good things about Disney at Netflix.
Current employee here. No one likes bob Iger. He’s been a horrible communicator since he’s been back. We all think of him as an egotistical prick
