Join Databricks rn, purely for future financial gains?
Got a job offer (L6) from DB. The offer’s pretty good, about 8% more than the other real-money offer I have. When I talked to some senior folks there, they said the stock will go atleast 2x when they IPO. I mean it’s competitor- SNOW did pretty well after the IPO until a few months ago. I will be happy if DB performs the same. Do you think it makes sense to join DB right now purely *from a financial standpoint*? (Looking for a 2-3x gain in stock after IPO) (For a core team, with good teammates, product with good revenue, good scope for future growth)
They are not going IPO anytime soon.

Who told you the stock will 2x on IPO? We regularly provide the media financial figures and SNOW is a good enough comparison, look at their multiple and then look at ours.
What do you mean? DB is lagging behind SNOW and hence, will have poor IPO?

There are a lot of reasons to join DB, expecting the stock to go 2-3x definitely isnt one of them. You should join if you are fine with LOWER valuation than the last 43B fundraise. If you have another offer with similar but liquid comp, purely financially DB wont make sense IMO.
