Hi, seeking your advice here! My experience as a SPM has been on data services, integrating AI recommendation systems, and optimizing UI/UX. YOE: 6 after college Disney offer - 1.5yrs contract; can convert to perm - $201k at $97/hr (up to 265k with overtime) - 24d PTO + 10d unpaid public holidays - full health and dental - no 401k match - no relocation - no stocks, sign-on, or bonus Team under intense pressure to deliver ASAP. Also this offer will require I go to US (which I love) but there's lots of costs upfront (which is not so great), and will be on a visa. HSBC offer - permanent; lateral / slight promo - $115k equivalent or $160k with staff mortgage. no overtime. - 28d PTO + 18d paid public holidays - full dental and medical - 5d WFH (flexible) - 401k match - no capital gains tax on any stock trading profits except dividends. HSBC pays less & has less connections to FANGM (long term goal), but it gives me time with family and my 16 yo dog, and is rock solid job security. This has been driving me nuts, and would appreciate your thoughts. #pm #product #productmanager #salary #salarycomparison #tech #offers
How do you find these contract roles?
they found me actually - recruiter called
Don’t trust Disney contract. That’s it, I am out!
Yeah so many contractors here. Bad quality too. I hate it
Contractor and Project Hire are two different things. This sounds like PH. If you’re based in FL, my guess is that you will have lots of opportunities to convert to Cast if that’s what you want. Base pay will go down, but annual bonus and LTI (stock) will take you way above this in a Sr Prod Manager role. WLB is good, if you like FL.
How does “no capital gain on any stock trading” work? Is there any restrictions? This is huge
A bit confused, in the title it says SPM but the description says you do UI/UX, data services AND AI recos. So, which one is it really? I never trust people who present themselves as Jack of all trades. As for your original question, at your age (6 years post college) I wouldn’t yet base my criteria on whether my job is rock solid and I can spend time with a 16 yo dog because now it’s a choice, give it another 5 years and it will be by design and way fewer options. So, if you have any ambition to grow your career significantly then you have to go after the job that has more growth prospects, not necessarily pays the most or is the most solid.
thanks for your comment! you made good points 🙂 to quickly clarify - my exp has been on implementing data services (e.g. identity resolution, activity tracking, marketing automation, etc), then integrating AI recommendation systems (leveraging some of the data services i implement), and optimizing UI/UX to raise conversion rates etc. hope it helps!
