Any Indians Think Kashmir Should be Independent?
Expecting an offer from Disney for a lead engineer role. The recruiter said the feedback was positive, and they are working on the offer details. What base/RSU/sign-on should I expect? Does Disney allow remote? yoe 15 #tech
They totally low balled me and it was 30% less than I expected.
Disney approaches this the same way you would approach buying a sports car. You have a budget of X dollars and you want to get the best car for that price. A better faster car doesn’t make their business better; this is a cost center not a profit driving purchase. So they do the market research and figure out what they have to pay to get good enough engineers to stay long enough to deliver enough value.
zero RSUs
Inside Disney Streaming you'll get RSUs and a performance bonus each year. I think that is company wide, as I have colleagues in ESPN that have a similar comp structure . .
Yeah, at Studios you certainly get RSUs as well as an annual bonus. Significant part of my TC
Stripe to Disney is going to be a huge salary cut
Stay at Stripe or go somewhere else. I’ve heard Disney (plus that is) has a pretty stale culture hung up on legacy technologies.
Disney Streaming did not have that, although I guess it depends what you consider stale.. With each reorg culture gets worse and more political.
I agree legacy technology is not an issue (maybe some org but not across the board) but office politics and culture is increasingly bad. insane deadlines too. wouldn’t recommend for those reasons but not Microsoft’s reason
Can you tell how the interviews were like and what they consisted of?
There is no consistency. And I don't want say what my team does for fear of outing myself.
Sure, Did you have any system design rounds?
Disney is not currently hiring any additional remote workers without executive approval. As a lead soft engineer you may be able negotiate it, but good luck. Range is unknown, but I'd guess the 150k to 200k mentioned elsewhere is a good guess RSUs refreshers I think are 45% and current vest is over 3 years. Yearly bonus for lead software eng is 20%. No idea what you can negotiate as sign on cash or RSUs.
Are you guarantee to get a RSU refresher and 20% bonus every year?
Bonuses and percentages are not guaranteed. I'd be shocked if there was nothing, though.
Maybe 300k TC
Sounds about right. No idea what the current rate is for sign on bonus or stock.
50k sign on
Should be around 300k tc
Which location? I am assuming in a HCOL area?
How much time did it take after phone screen for next rounds didnot heard anything afer the phone screen ?
I would expect a week tops before you hear something from the recruiter
150-200K
