https://deadline.com/2022/08/disney-just-passed-netflix-in-total-streaming-subscribers-1235089361/ On Wednesday, the Walt Disney Company reported that total Disney+ subscriptions rose to 152.1 million during the fiscal third quarter, higher than the 147 million analysts had forecast, according to StreetAccount. At the end of the fiscal third quarter, Hulu had 46.2 million subscribers and ESPN+ had 22.8 million. The streaming space has been in a state of upheaval in recent weeks, as Netflix disclosed another drop in subscribers.
Disney is giving free subscriptions to everyone lol, even my internet provider was like choose us and we will give you free Disney+
True but I think T-Mobile also gives free Netflix.
RIP Netflix. They’re a commodity business in a world that already has major players.
Disney bundle gave free 2 months with recent uber orders
AMEX Plat cardholders get free Disney+, and anyone who signed up before launch could buy a multi-year plan for what was essentially $2-3/month.
One bundle subscription with Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN counts as 3 subscribers? The math here is quite interesting.
It’s 3 services
How is Netflix still in faang lol, it's not even a market leader anymore.
That's counting every Disney bundle user as 3 subscriptions. For an apple to apple comparison, Netflix vs Disney DTC quarterly revenue 8B vs 5B. Profit 2B vs -1B. Disney is still losing money big time
Disney just did a Netflix and raised prices almost 40%. Will be interesting to see their quarterly revenue at next earnings.
Disney also lowers the 2024 sub guidance by 15M. That's the real story. A quarter doesn't make or break a service
2024 may as well be eons away considering Disney+ came out in late 2019.
2024 has been the year Disney used for forecast since 2020. Whether Chapek can get his contract extended depends on that. In any case, revenue and profit are more important than the subscriber number. And Disney forecast its DTC will break even in 2024
Disney+ also lost $1.1B and they are increasing the plan price. Growth isn't sustainable and Disney is paying a lot for these subs.

How many of those Disney subscribers are from Verizon? The only reason I have Disney is because it’s bundled with my phone plan for free.
Isn’t same as netflix with tmobile?
Ha same! I don’t even watch it 😝
