Diversity and Inclusion Roles

I work at rapidly growing startup on the sales team, but I’ve always been really involved in D&I. We have a D&I volunteer group that I participate in, and we just recently hired a director of D&I and recruitment. I have inquired about new roles in D&I becoming available, and it doesn’t seem like it will happen for a while. I was wondering if anyone knew of any positions in D&I that are availble at other tech companies?

Amazon values D&I and has DICE org. But I don’t think being diverse and inclusive will fly as a primary occupation. It’s more something you do on a side - events and such to raise awareness. They have budget for this stuff though. But their events usually suck (unlike Latinos@Amazon for example)

When did institutionalized bigotry become more popular than meritocracy? Just hire whichever applicant is best suited for each role, and stop discriminating against white men.

They still hire the best, they just try to open up the pipelines for those who are not generally represented there. If anything I would say Asian males are more likely to be "discriminated" against, if you want to call trying to give other people a chance being discriminated against

Stop focusing on skin color, gender, ethnicity, etc. These characteristics are 100% irrelevant. If a room full of similar looking men seems like a problem to you, then you're a bigot. Stop adjusting pipelines.

D&I is something to integrate in various roles, not an actual job or profession. Even in your statement "director of D&I and recruitment" Their actual job is recruitment, the D&I part is branding.

D&I roles are generally responsible for coordinating events to honor the diversity present at the company and cultivating a culture that’s welcoming of people’s differences in the workplace. They are also responsible for hosting and sourcing events that pools of eligible and diverse might attend for the purpose of recruiting. And let me make that very clear... eligible pools of talent.
