Diversity polices during hiring

To the hiring managers , what diversity policies do you have during recruiting? Many smaller companies don’t have or just wish to give preference to diversity candidates. Bigger companies have more specific policies. Apple says interviews should include a woman candidate and either African American or Hispanic candidate. But the final candidate would be chosen by the hiring team. This way they balance out merit and diversity. Anyone has insights into what other companies do ?

We don’t have any quota but we are encouraged to think and understand different backgrounds for hiring. There is always a panel so you are expected to hold each other accountable if You realize any bias. Also, generally everyone has a performance goal which is tied to their bonus about implementing DEI into their day to day life, so not just hiring but also checking if are you including different backgrounds in your decisions. For hiring managers, having a goal like this means you are evaluated by how you incorporate DEI principles in your hiring practices through out the year. In the end there is no quote or forced short list but you are expected to explain your reasons. People who apply DEI practices generally can be easily understood, especially given that our roles attract larger audiences.
