I have 4 YOE, but 1.9 undergrad GPA. Will they care? TC 260K.
Yes. Finance cares a lot about GPA and will not even smell you if youâre below their minimum qualifications, even if youâve developed a cure for cancer. Source: Developed a cure for cancer but didnât pass resume screen cus I had 3.49 GPA
Citadel is big on gpa from what I understand. Correct me if Iâm wrong
They even ask GRE/SAT scores đ¤Ł
Just leave it off resume if it's bad.
Citadel does. HRT doesnât, I got an interview with a 3.2 , but I had a year of internships doing C++ systems programming, so that could be a reason. I donât think Jump cares much too, know someone with a similar GPA who got an interview there. Places that care - Citadel, DE Shaw, Virtu. If youâre doing C++ at Dropbox, definitely apply to HRT. Try Akuna too, theyâre paying really well.
Do you have any data points for TC at Akuna?
Nothing for full time. I had heard via someone that an intern negotiated and got $15000/month, and their interns were getting an average of $12000/month (+ housing stipend) in Chicago. I think JS and HRT are the only trading firms paying interns these amounts.
How is it possible to graduate with 1.9 GPA?
GPA and SAT score
hey do you know what the minimum GPA score is for Citadel?
Citadel wants minimum 3.5 GPA
Yes it matters. Ken still approves all hires and this will definitely raise red flags. Remember Citadel is still VERY small compared to FANGs so they can be more selective. However it is not an ABSOLUTE blocker. If you have a hiring manager that is willing to go to bat for you AND who sources you directly then it is possible. However you wonât get past recruiting so you would need to reach out to a hiring manager directly.
My friend had below 3.5 at Duke and works at Citadel
They so care about school/gpa to some extent they did reach out to me for trading infra roles even though I dont do cpp at work just because I went to a top school in India and graduated with a good gpa
So thatâs why you joined Oracle?
Not there anymore
