I have MS+5.5 yoe, no publications or anything special. If I try, will recommendation letter from senior teammates be enough? Is the only benefit that I skip perm step? #workvisa #h1b #eb2 #greencard
No
From someone who has eb2 NIW and been through the process... No, you do not
You could try publishing some papers.
How and where?
Do some research outside of daily job, and submit it to suitable conferences or journals? Even if not accepted, you could put it on arXiv and try again next time. For example, many of the authors of the paper, RWKV: Reinventing RNNs for the Transformer Era, are working on the project outside of their job.
Is recommendation letter mandatory?
What did you study, and job title? Depending on what you currently do, you might have a case
The bar is a lot lower than the player haters here suggest. Yes you qualify and you just need the right approach.
I only have a bachelor's and 8 years experience. No research, no publications. Just had a free consultation call with Colombo & Hurd and I was told I have a good chance of success based on my experience. Of course I'm skeptical and will get a second and third opinion before investing any money into this.
Did they say recommendation letters are mandatory?
They didn't explicitly say if it's mandatory or not, but I guess they're a strong addition to any case. You can always ask your past/present peers and managers for them.
