Heard from a friend that United Airlines employees get free economy flights to anywhere in the world for themselves and people flying with them. Can UA employees confirm if this is true? Also can SWEs work remote?
I was just talking to a Delta SWE this morning at a coding Meetup. He is said that at least for Delta, they can fly standby, which means you show up and hope someone who bought a ticket *doesn't* show up. And you do the same on the return flight, meaning you can get stuck waiting many hours or even days for a return seat.
😂😂😂. What a sht kind of benefit for employees
Um that’s sounds like an Amazon perk to me
I assume they get the usual nonrev privileges pilots and FA’s get? It’s a pretty sweet deal but it’s not quite “unlimited free economy flights”
Not just economy, it’s for any class of service.
i knew employees at airlines. it is, or used to be, just standby, but employees can find out which flights are more likely to have availability and plan accordingly.
At United we have "open search" it will show itineraries which has the most seats available. And you can pick a destination that you can travel to by looking at those.
It’s free standby travel so we get on if space is available only after all paying customers
Do you mind giving me a referral ?

Is "From the River to the Sea" So Wrong?
Pretty sure it's free standby for employee and 2 guests? My cousin works at southwest.
What does standby means? If it’s available in the same day?
Standby means if flight isn’t full u can get on
