Was chatting with a friend and he mentioned that Companies ask for W2s which I find it very weird
They’ll ask for a W2 if you say “well I’m making 700k at dell and that’s what it would take me to leave”
What the fuck
That sounds illegal
Salesforce didn't ask me.
W2 for background checks yes but they also say blur details like salary. It’s like an option to confirm you work for the company rather than calling them up
It's illegal in US to ask for this. In fact they can't even ask you what you make currently. They can however ask you what your expectations are..
This is only for California, the part where they can’t ask your salary. Legal in other states
They may ask for verification if you ask for a very high number.
That’s illegal, at least in California. They shouldn’t be asking your current compensation.
They won’t ask directly. It’ll be something along the lines of “our comp team needs more persuasion to go above this number”
For background check, yes they ask. But you can redact any information you want. The only thing worth redacting is the compensation.
