Do companies prefer candidates who need sponsorship?

- ignoring defense / public sector which requires citizenship - do faangs prefer h1b? I feel amazon prefers h1bs as unsavory managers seek to exploit them - americans can be seen as bringing entitled attitude and wokeness but positively fluent english is an extreme asset. hearing broken english simply adds mental burden. but note many h1bs speak better english than many americans. - saves the burden of legal fees but with larger companies - this could be a somewhat fixed cost with retained firms? saves the burden of proving qualified americans don't exist for the role at least * your thoughts? * #swe #amazon #gc #desi #h1b #uscis

Why would companies prefer H1Bs when plenty are refusing to sponsor entirely because they don’t want to deal with immigration bs

"Americans can be seen as bringing entitled attitude" = You mean they don't let themselves be taken advantage of or be mistreated and don't have to tolerate BS because they can leave and go work anywhere in the US

Americans bring an entitled attitude? Dawg I’ve seen international students complain that they should be prioritized over US citizens since they need to take out larger loans and pay more in tuition.

True ... also saw some h1b saying that americans should be laid off first because they might get deported But many h1b will do pick up crappier work and for longer hours as the stakes are higher

Op. If you are not getting a job offers it’s not because h1b’s are stealing your jobs , it’s because of bad market conditions. So don’t look for finger pointing.

i’m on visa myself but not h1b 😭

You have false equivalency going here. Americans and GC holders like to be treated with dignity and fairness. They just don't stand for bs.

HMs want the best candidate regardless and sponsorships take time. If a local candidate excels they'll be hired. Stop lying to yourself to feel better about failing interviews.

As an HM I completely agree. I have never hired anyone because of their sponsorship status. Your sponsorship status is not going to help you get hired. I don't care about your nationality, sponsorship status or any other irrelevant attribute about you. Bring good skills that's what gets you hired with me as an HM. It's that simple.
