I got an interview for DS at Lyft.. I currently use SAS and am very comfortable with it. I know only very basic python.. should I even bother taking the interview? I am shifting to python so will be very comfortable with it in 6 months.. So currently, is it worth doing the dance to get rejected and blacklisted for a year at Lyft? #datascience
First off , ask the recruiter. If python, Onsite or phone screen? If latter don’t bother and say you need more time to prepare. Otherwise ask for an additional week to prepare or use the interview as a measure of how far you need to come
SQL, Python or R should work for the interview. Lyft doesn’t use SAS.
You'll need SQL plus one of R or python. If you use SAS you should not have a hard time to pick up basics in R or python. Try to do a kaggle competition or something. Feel free to DM me
I am amazed LC has not been mentioned yet as a tool to learn Python. If you know Python basics and algo, 3-4 weeks on LC would be sufficient for the interview.
For data science....?
Pretty much, yes. If take home is a concern, it is a simple notebook. No fancy stuff, outside of DS domain.
No one uses sas anymore
No one in a real tech company*
People that aren’t in one are nobodies, so JP Morgan is right.
