Move to Seattle
We moved from Seattle to Austin
Honestly, don’t most kids feel like the odd ones out at some point?
Don't equivocate! In another words what u r trying to do is called false equivalency.
How is that false equivalency? Almost everyone falls under some kind of demographic that gets discriminated against at some point/situation. This gets amplified in school... I suppose my experience might be a bit different in school though. I got the crap beat out of me for being the odd one out...
Move to bay area
Move to Sugar Land aka Little India
Don’t wanna leave Austin. We like the city 🙂
Don’t blame ya
My parents are Indian and I was born here. I also went to school where it was 90% white. My advice is to tell them to own it. I was reasonably popular in my school , primarily because I didn't shy away from my cultural background. At the same time, assimilate some aspects of American culture, so they're aware of different practices. Let them hang out with others a lot , do stupid (reasonably stupid) things and learn. My parents used to smother me but when in high school when I stopped letting them smother , I had good fun.
Yeah, I mean my kids have sleepovers at our place and they go have sleepovers at their friends houses as well. Our community is about 85% to 90% white
Move to Fremont/Milpitas area in the Bay Enroll kids in Monta Vista HS
Why? What’s different about it? Also I am not trying to ghetto my kids by living in all Indian communities. That will be even more counterproductive in my mind.
Or mission San Jose which has 90% Asian population 40% Indian and 50% Asian and 10% other immigrants
Where in Austin? I think our elementary school is 30% Indian according to state data.
I am in Cedar Park, Twin Creek neighborhood
Move to Fremont, Seattle, etc where more Indian people are Blacks should stay with blacks, Asians should stay with Asians, Whites should stay with Whites, etc. This isn't racist btw, this is how countries like Canada have amazing multicultural culture while USA is a lame boring melting pot and you lose all the beautiful parts of different ethnicities
What do you mean it's different here? New Jersey is like 90% Indians, same with multiple suburbs like redmond, Bothell, etc, if you always want to live like that why not just stay in India
Wtf? 1) that is racist. 2) It barely makes sense.
Not particularly. In elementary and middle school, I was one of the only Indians; I dealt with bits of racism around 9/11 but that’s it. I also ended up making a lot of friends by middle school since I was considered smart, and people would want to study with me. I moved to another town in high school, where there were tons more Indians, and I never felt left out at all over there, bu it was there where I realized I was actually a dumbass 🙃
Do they have an elf on the shelf? In Texas I am guessing it's not just the color that makes them feel left out.
Oh yeah! We have the Elf on the Shelf 🙄
Huh?
