This phrase is used here quite a lot ,mostly as a funny jab towards the Indian crowd. What I find funny here is that I've heard this phrase only in the Bay area. @Indians, am I an exception or is this really common Ps. Born, brought up and worked in India for quite some time.
Have heard it in the Midwest and east coast
I hear “revert back” and it annoys me so much. Revert means like reverting a git commit or something not “reply”. 😡
The "back" part is worse than the "revert". Sounds like a no-op when taken together
Revert back is an I'll constructed phrase. Might as well say return back back. But, do the needful seems grammatically correct
It’s commonly used. I feel it’s a great phrase. People nowadays love to take a jab at anything. Bunch of egoistic fools pretending like they are direct descendants of Shakespeare.

Culturally, native English speakers *are* the descendants of Shakespeare.
“Do the needful originated in India, is commonly used in African countries, and was once heard frequently in the United Kingdom as well. After the Victorian period, its usage in the West died out, but with the increase in outsourcing to and from India, it started catching the ear of English speakers in the West again.”
I for the life of me have never heard anyone use that phrase. Am in Austin
Have heard it in KC
I've heard this phrase from colleagues in India. I like to think someone was forced to train their replacement abroad and taught them some interesting phrases but who knows.
