Hey folks, At SAP, I noticed that they have « AEs » selling licences and also « Services AEs » selling services like support, training and value assurance to complement SIs. I am new to sales and so wondering if this is unique to the company. I would imagine that true cloud companies like Amazon and salesforce leave services to SIs or bundle under the AE role? Is this dual sales role the norm in other enterprise cloud companies and if so which ones? TC 120 Yoe 5 #ae #sales
I worked for azure and gcp, yes I did see different type of AEs
Thx. I heard that presales architect make as much or more than AEs at Google…know if this is true?
I guess all depends on level, and AE has bigger earning potential, can be 200% if sign a big deal or 50% for a bad year, but presales will be more stable, like 70% to 110%
There is core AE and then co-primes (Service, Marketing, Tableau AEs etc.)
Thanks, seems like the standard way in the industry then
In Salesforce, an AE is the complete owner of an account. All sales, whether licences or services, go through him/her/them
Thanks ! It seemed weird to split up the role. Btw, it true that salesforce leaves the implementation work to SIs ?
Nope, we also have our internal professional services which implements salesforce hands-on at customers. Customers can choose us/partner/us+partner
