How do you think stocks/coins get exchanged to fiat? Bitcoin has no value if there is no exchange for it.
You can’t convert fiat to coins digitally but you can convert crypto to any other crypto. Exchanges will be just a software running somewhere. SEC need to regulate crypto offerings otherwise there is no point of traditional exchanges.
How do you xchange crypto to crypto? Who decides the fair value from one crypto to another crypto? Stock exchange is just a barter system. Market is a consensus mechanism that decides exchange rate. Even tulip auction is a stock exchange with a clock. Regulations may not be required but build confidence on the system.
Because tokens/coins don't give any legal ownership and no quality checks
I think OP is referring to something like uniswap - asking why not go public using shitcoins
I am aware of that Uberdumb
Well, we still need an exchange. Doesn't have to be centralized. Uniswap would make lots of sense as the future of stock exchange.
Yes I meant traditional exchanges.
An exchange full of shitcoins and scammers? No thanks. I’ll put my money in a traditional exchange.
What if Apple issued shares as coins?
Also are you saying traditional exchanges are not full of shit-shares and scammers? Heard of Enron?
Uniswap still has a protocol to decide on the exchange rate. Information distribution on stock exchange/uniswap can have adverse impact on end users.
I'm really looking forward to that, can trade 24/7 wherever you're on the planet without risking your account getting closed randomly.
This has nothing to do with coins. Coins decentralized source of truth soes nothing for someone who wants to sell their own "number with value". There s many reasons this doesnt happen today. Availability of investors, company ownership, ability to dilute / undilute ownership at companys will, divdents, etc.
The number of transactions alone on the nasdaq would probably be hard for a chain to handle. I don’t know too much about how blockchain works but I’m pretty sure the size of the chain massive in no time.

Because when a shitcoin rugpull happens, there will be no one to help you. Stock exchanges are backed by SEC.
People will get smart about it eventually. We have to go through the scams.
"Backed" and ""policed" aren't quite the same thing. SEC ain't gonna do sh*t for you if your broker or nasdaq steals all your money and runs tmr.
