Do you prefer living in a house or apartment
As the title says
You still pay for all that stuff in an apartment, you're just on a subscription model instead
In an apt, rent is the max you pay. In a house, mortgage is the minimum you pay.
It is better if you know how much max you will be paying. Houses have surprise expenses like repairs etc and they can get very very expensive. Budgeting could be a big problem.
I would rather live in a house (yard, garage, can use my subwoofer or drill, grind, ... whenever I want) but live in an apartment for now

Townhouse with a good HOA (rare). I get a house with ownership of all the vertical space and good sound insulation, and don’t have to deal with all the outdoor BS.
Depends on location. Like living in an apartment in urban enough area where I can walk to stuff. Apartment in the middle of nothing sucks. In New York, my apartment buildings were always quiet too - in CA you hear everything from neighbors because construction is shit.

I have both and it depends. I have a flat in a luxury building in Barcelona and it's awesome. It's at the beach, lots of people around, walking distance to W. Here, I have two houses because it makes no difference if you're down town or an hour away, social life is equally poor so you can replace that with a location that better suits your hobbies.

Apartment 100%. I care far more about location than I do about living space.
Thinking that the apt maintenance is free is a fallacy. Get a house and pay some guy 500$ HOA per month to deal with all unexpected problems.
