In terms of Percentage, Amazon layoffs are even lower to their PIP numbers (18K out of 370K in Corporate). They are just trying to fool others by laying off people they marked as PIP. If they would have followed the industry trend of 10-15%, they should ideally be laying off close to 50K people. Just with 370K people in Corporate, Amazon is the biggest bloated company among bit Tech. With the sheer numbers, it feels like a body shop in line with WITCH companies. I have spent quite a long time (10+ years) at Amazon both in Retail and AWS. The sheer amount of Engineering wastage on Pet projects was astonishing. Everyone had a pet project from VP all the way to even an L6 Manager, where they are wasting Engineers time on chasing a pipe dream without any impact culture. These Pet projects are beyond the Bezos pet project (similar to Metaverse at FB) where he spend a lot. People call Google on killing projects, but I prefer Google style then running projects for decade and still making Revenue that can't even pay the engineers salary. It was mainly because of the Promotion which heavily focused on "new launches". The culture of 2-pizza team where every team needs to start from scratch and the explosion of Micro-services has ruined the company. TC - 500K
They will layoff another 10k atleast through PIP so that they can save severance amount and insurance, etc.
Pip in most cases have same severances except the insurance.
OP, you are a moron. You also don’t understand that layoff has nothing to do with PIP, which is another 5-6% incremental.
This is exactly what Meta did and Google planning to do, lay-off all Pip candidates. Why do you think this is Moronic?

With Competition from Temu and Shein, I don’t trust Amazon’s future anymore. I am a powerful buyer, and I purchased only 50% of what I used to on Amazon. The other 50% on Temu, Shein and others. Also, most of my friends working there are suffering from mental problems, not a place for happiness.
The websites for temu and shien are unnavigable.. i don’t know who is their target audience
