Do you think Robinhood encourages daytrading?

Although I just use the app to track, I feel like it pushes users to take riskier options when investing rather than having a clear plan. Kind of like using Instagram normally with your friends vs as an influencer.

I think it does. Robinhood makes it easier to invest and a lot of my friends do much riskier day trading an even options trading. I guess I am the only one who believes in index funds.

Absolutely, I just downloaded it and it seems too simple not to be tempted to day trade

Hot take: It is the Juul of Gen Z / millennial finance. We almost got over cigarette addiction / individual stock picking trading, both very stupid things our parents’ generation did and learned better. Then, Juul / Robinhood comes along and gets kids hooked on the worst while appearing to be innocuous. Yeah you’re paying no fees but you’re taking a thousand times the risk of loss. It is a very disappointing trend and mostly appeals to those least able to take on this level of financial risk.

Yes in the sense that it lowers the barrier to entry for trading as it is so easy to use and get into, though I don't think it necessarily encourages day trading. People who plan their positions well will most likely still trade like they normally would with Robinhood, but the app simply allows those who have no self control or knowledge to enter the game.

It is easily accessible to anyone without knowledge in stock trading, but I disagree with the statement where it encourages day trading. You cant eliminate day trading in anyways, so there will be people who wants to daytrade regardless of the platform. But I was little surprised at how easy it was to trade call/put options. It is very risky for people without knowledge and experience to engage in options trading. Wouldnt it be a good cause if people starts to invest in Robinhoond and learn from their mistake?

Yes it does. For long term kind of investments I would probably use a different app. RobinHood was designed for trading not for long term portfolio investment strategies
