Is it something I’ll likely regret in the future? I’m eyeing the new Toyota GR86. Salary 150k Yoe 3
Never too late to get some gas station sushi for that STI
Just follow the 20/4/10 rule and you’ll be more than fine
Not even that expensive relative to your income you’ll be fine. But it also depends if you have ample savings or other debt.
I have no debt and 15k emergency savings, the rest are in retirement investments, some crypto that I don’t plan to sell anytime soon. Currently I drive a Prius that works well, but the new gr looks fun. Just worried if it will affect my savings toward a house in the future or retirement.
It’ll definitely dent your savings towards a house. While I am someone who saves a lot, if you truly enjoy cars, I think it’s something that you could spend some money on
Buy and enjoy the life.
You can buy a car for under $30k?? Where?
Toyota GR86 costs a 32k ish
New?
While I’m not a Dave Ramsey absolutist, I do agree with him you should only buy a car if you can but it cash
I bought a 30k car at 26. Not a big deal if you can afford it. But I got mine when interest rates were low so there's that
You got your whole life to drive an SUV, sedan, or minivan. Go get a sporty car and enjoy life while you can. The GR86 is an affordable fun car, that’s still somewhat practical (2+2 coupe) with decent trunk space and performance and handling. It’s also decent enough to go auto-crossing and tracking if that’s your thing. Have fun!
It should be relative to your salary, not your age. And you make well enough to afford a 30k car. Enjoy it! If you’ve been thinking about it then follow your heart :) life’s too short to not have fun!(responsibly of course)
Don’t basic cars cost about $30K nowadays?
Yes sir
Ok good. I am not all that disconnected after all. 😌
