I've been an off-and-on contributor and blogger. Most of my articles have been around a difficult bug I solved at work, or some nuggets of knowledge that came out of them. I also have some open-source projects to showcase my skills. I've accepted an offer from Google, and want to understand how this will impact my contributions. Does Google have such a policy? Will I need to get every commit / blog reviewed by some team to make sure I'm not leaking any information? New TC: 35 Lakhs YOE: 3
Blog URL?
Yes. You’ll need to talk to your manager. Afair, you will need to list OSS projects, blogs and such when you join the company.
Cool, thanks! What's this OSS policy like at Netflix? I have no problem listing my blogs / OSS projects to them. However, do I really need to get commits approved before pushing them to the open? That would add a SIGNIFICANT overhead, and discourage me from doing these things.
@LeetGuy at Google - they generally require review if you are doing anything that is close to what Google is doing. And Google is doing everything. NF - they are much more relaxed, freedom & responsibility😀
