I’m looking for an ergonomic keyboard and this was one of the top suggested options. I don’t have a problem with spending $350 on a keyboard that I’m going to use for 8+ hours a day and many years, but wanted to know others feedback before buying it.
I use a split kinesis keyboard. It sorry if helped with my wrist pain, but the layout is different, so it is annoying to look at the keyboard for pgup,dn, home, end buttons. Also harder to switch back and forth be regular keyboards
Reverse incline keyboard tray, ergo chair, and split kinesis keyboard worked for me. Keyboard tray helped the most.
I have an advantage2 at work and a Contoured 130 (one of the first models from kinesis in this shape) which I replaced the logic board so it runs QMK. I love these keyboards (QMK makes it a beast) and will never go back to standard keyboard except when typing on other people's computers (which I don't find difficult switching between).
It’s great.
I absolutely love mine. Took care of my RSI. I have one at work and one at home.
I used the advantage for years, while it took care of the pain due to how heavy "normal" keystrokes were, it did cause other problems because of its design, you basically end up shortening the ligaments running from the tips of your fingers and through your wrist, think about not being able to straighten your fingers 100% because the ligaments that connect to the tips get shorter because your fingers are bent 100% of the time and moving a much shorter vertical distance. I then switched to a kinesis split keyboard, been using it for years at work and at home with no problems.
Can’t praise enough the Goldtouch split keyboard.
I really tried hard to make it work, gave it a good six months, couldn’t get used to it. Or any other keyboard that’s not simply straight and connected. What I swear by is Happy Hacking Pro 2, I have one at work and one at home. The clickiness feel is just perfect, it just flies.
It also leaves plenty of room on the desk for my cats.
I’m gonna be honest, I got a lot of wrist pain from the HHKB. Maybe it’s because of the way it’s angled, but I noticed a significant strain on my wrists while typing. I even hovered my hands over the keyboard but the improvement was minimal. Same with a Realforce R2 with variable weight switches, I felt like a lot of shock going up my wrists and forearms. Something about topre switches or keyboards that just isn’t working. I’m currently using my Filco with MX brown switches and it seems to be helping. Why didn’t you like the Kinesis?
