I have not had anyone reach out after applying on the company’s careers site. Even filled out this long essay-type questionnaire for a couple of them. Are referrals or reaching out to the recruiter on LinkedIn the only ways to go? Or is it that my resume lacks keywords and is not going through the automated filtering system? Has anyone recently received a call by applying directly on the companies careers site? If yes, which ones do you recommend?
I got called back by Google 3 times just through their website with a joke of a resume but I was a student so...
You prolly were Ivy League/equivalent though...
Nope. My university is barely in the top 100
Same here! The job I have is because I applied on the website
I have got calls from both big and medium sized places I applied to directly. Not going to list them because I don't want competition. I am careful to read through the requirements and only apply to places where my skills are a great fit. Strangely enough I haven't had much luck with referrals .
"don't want competition" as if blocking one person out of tens of thousands s gonna help you
Interesting! Thanks all. Sounds like I need to work on my resume a bit more.
You meant resume building i guess.
Your resume matters, get the book "the Google resume" after i read it and reworked mine, i started getting calls from website applications
I’ve gotten called back by Google, AWS, Apple, Microsoft, and Dropbox all just by applying online. It did take a month for some companies. Never heard back from FB, immediate reject at Palantir, Uber, and Salesforce.
It does matter. I got called by big giants.
