Absurdities of the Bay Area 😒
Hey, I passed google HC, and I am not too familiar with what languages are popular here, 1. are there backend teams that use python (not data engineering, data science teams, I mean regular backend)? 2. what about for Golang? 3. If neither, what languages are used in the backend for google (what is the most popular, 2nd, 3rd, etc), I am trying to see what options I would have, but I only have experience in the 2 that I mentioned :( #google #software #meta
Surprisingly, it's all in Perl.
c/java/golang if we are talking about the backend.
do you know the order of popularity, I want to request golang but dont want to reduce my options by a lot if it is not that common?
it is pretty common, especially for something smaller, google is hiring engineers, so don't be surprised if you will also get a ticket for any language. But in my response it's already sorted by popularity. Right now python is replaced by golang and everything new build using golang. Old stuff c/java
Focus on projects, not languages. You will need to learn additional languages as you grow in your career. I am saying this as someone who just started and who only knows Python. But yes, some backend teams do use Python.
You’re asking if Google, the company that wrote golang, a language aimed at the backend, uses golang in their backend services? Probably not
Uber is right here. They wrote it and outsourced it entirely.
I should have worded the title correctly, I would guess there are teams that use golang, but I was told that backend is primarily c++/ java, and wanted to know if that was correct? do you know how common golang is?
