Does over use of brain cause physical tiredness?

After a full day of coding or leetcoding I feel physically tired, not from bad posture or eye fatigue. Could it be that using your brain leads to fatigue like any other part of body?

The brain requires lots of energy so yes

Definitely. If you have other shit going on that’s emotionally tolling in addition to difficult (even if interesting) work, then you get the double-whammy.

If you work out and you put in a lot of time working mentally you will notice a difference in the type of fatigue between the two. Both make you tired for different reasons and both require rest to recharge.

Usually Leetcode means - interview prep - exam mode - optimal solution in a timer + negative emotions about current workplace and immediate sense of failure if answer doesn’t land in the 90th percentile in 30 minutes. I can’t think of anything more stressful. Go easy on yourself.

Magnetic resonance angiography shows that when certain areas of the brain are used, it actually results in an increase of blood flow velocity to those areas. So yes, thinking hard about programming or something else will result in more calories being burned. It's not a bad thing though, and your neural connections will gradually reconfigure themselves so that these tasks will become easier.
