A lot of people on Blind love to make tier lists and compare company prestige. When it comes down to a real world job search, does prestige actually make a difference in terms of getting interviews and ultimately, offer TC? Example: Will an engineer from Facebook get more interviews and higher TC offers than an engineer from Yext who has equivalent experience?
Ofc it matters, same way top 10 colleges get more interviews
Yes
More interviews for sure but not necessarily higher TC
Harder to lowball if they expect you already make a lot of money
Ppl saying prestige don’t matter already work at good companies. Try working at a hotel chain, automotive company, or other regular company. They don’t pay nearly as good
Of course. Otherwise, there won’t be any social movements like BLM
Water is indeed wet.
Havent you seen the reddit post, they guy changed the names of employers to faang and put some keywords, got so many interviews
Yes, it means either I'm very lucky or I can do LC hard. As valuable as academic grades in kindergarten!
Why you gotta come at Yext though 🥲
For negotiating TC: i doubt prestige get you higher comp usually competing offers etc For getting interviews: prestige matters only certain extend. As long as you are from a tier 2 company, it would be good enough to get most interviews. Tier 2 such as Amazon is good enough, you don't need to be at FB/Netflix
