I was laid off in the middle of the interview process and never told them and pretended to still be there. It has now been 3 weeks I have been gone and hoping for an offer next week. Do companies call to confirm employment status of previous employers?
They will find out during the background check, let the recruiter know when they extend the offer. But wait until you get the offer
There’s no need to let the recruiter know unless it’s like a 4-6 month break or you were fired.
They will run a background check and as long as the dates of employment you put in match with what the company reports you should be fine - make sure you put in the accurate dates, I doubt they can access lay-off info though
Background checks show employment status?
Yes they show your end date and start date so they can tell your employment status
This happened to me, with another company but it doesn’t matter. You don’t have to say anything. Just list correct employment dates on the background check form. Hiring managers don’t look at it unless there are glaring issues. They only verify that whatever you put on the form is accurate. No one will even notice or care so there’s no reason to bring it up. You could have left on your own too at that point because you had lots of interviews. It’s none of their business really since it happened in the middle of your interview process and it’s not like you’ve been unemployed for months.
Doesn’t matter. When you fill up the Sterling background check form, just put in the official last date of your employment and you’re good.
