Current TC: ₹35 LPA fixed [IND] YOE: 5.5 I am right now 28 years old and want to pursue MS. But I'm kind of confused. Is this the right age to pursue MS now? As I will be graduating at 30 and after paying loan at 31 will be starting again from 0. Also VISA stress and marriage problem (Yes, I want to be stable at the right time) after 31, all the struggle in the USA. Is it worth going for MS now considering my current salary in India. Also I could use these 3 years to build something of my own in India. I am very much ambitious, love my work and want to grow. I have good salary, but not really happy with growth, always feels I could have done better in USA as you get appreciated/promoted for your work/skills (correct me if I am wrong) which is very less in India. How is the scenario in the USA right now and will be. VISA stress hyped or is really the situation that much worse over there? Does American dream still exists? Should I still consider pursuing MS at this point? #MS #Software #Help #CS #Engineering #SDE #google #microsoft #faang #amazon #tech #graduation
US is NOT for average and India is NOT for the best. If you really feel you're good and can work that extra mile the US is the place for crazy earnings. Not just from a regular job perspective but the best startups are all American. But it will have a significant cost to your social life. You'll effectively lose all your friends, family etc.
Look at the GC queue for Indians and then decide. You could earn really well if you have good tech skills, but you could get fired overnight as well during a downturn. Or your visa renewals could run into trouble (Trump era). These are genuine problems, and if you’re willing to be a docile rat in the rat race, America needs you.
If you’re only thinking of making money, you can make that in India too. What U.S. offers is the opportunity to work on cutting edge tech. Also, all the good projects are bagged by the U.S. branch of a company. And better quality of life (better infrastructure, less pollution, crowd etc). Down sides of U.S.: Life can get very lonely. If you have a good social circle in India, will be hard to replicate in U.S. immigration for Indians sucks

Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
Work hard and you will be able to make double your salary in 6 months by job switch. Not worth going to US at this point. All my friends are struggling to find jobs at the moment in US.
But wouldn't it be temporary. Till I complete my MS, I guess things will be normal. Otherwise if IT jobs in USA are in problem for more than 2-3 years, it would definitely impact job in India further. Because most of people working for US based companies.
