Reports are surfacing of a massive force of male Indians who flew down to Orlando, FL to attend Grace Hopper Conference where they apparently got physical with the women in order to fight their way through to the recruiters... From what I understand the tickets to the conference are not cheap, not to mention hotel and flights to Orlando as well as the time commitment to do all this... and once these male Indians got there it seems they were playing full contact rugby against the women in order to win some time with the recruiters. This does not sound like the SWE job market is recovering... has the situation gotten this desperate? Are you landing real offers? not random LinkedIn messages but OFFERS?

Fact is they were overwhelmingly Indian men, some east Asians mixed in. There's plenty of video footage of it. They swarmed the event. It was a physical manifestation of what the job market is right now. Thousands of H1Bs applying to every opening, no matter how unsuitable or unlikely. This is why people's job search is taking months. You are the signal in all that noise.
I was conducting screenings (not interviews) for SWE roles. Most applicants, of any gender, only wanted DS or AI/ML. When I told them the roles I had available, they were not even interested in listening to the descriptions 🤷🏻♀️

It's desperation. If you come to the US from a poor country, you might do nearly anything not to go home again. They came to the US, got a taste of a different life and don't want to go back again.
