Are there companies which actually record your Slack or chat conversations. And for example find out that you want to leave, because you are not satisfied with your role. Do you think that is legal? Do you have a problem with that? #culture #officelife #workplace #security #manage #slack
It’s legal and said on the contract they have all the right. So better to avoid something like that.
Don’t use company chat for that type of convo
So what do you think about an App which helps Managers to track if they have disgruntled employees https://telltrail.ai The app literally stores your slack conversations, allows managers to see all public/private chats and notifies them when a bunch of angry messages come along, analyzed with ml. What do you think? would that be useful?
For all our sakes, please no
Lol why not, please. Any feedback would be welcomed.
NO GOD! PLEASE NO! - Michael Scott I get the smartness in the concept but it is totally contradictory for any sense of upholding manager accountability. A good manager has soft skills and cares for their folks enough to know that someone is upset or needs development and is looking for another job. Don't further equip mediocre and bad managers with more excuses not to speak human to human but to spy through software.
They spy already. I have experience in a previous company, where we were using HipChat. And for some reason, we have created a channel for "New opportunities". Next day the channel was deleted. And we were all wondering how the **** it disappeared. It was the sys admin, who was responsible for the security as well.
I agree spying already happens, yet this specific software seems to be trying to take the place of human to human engagement.
Definitely happens here. Companies and managers have rights to review slack messages and emails only certain conditions are met. Employees have some privacy rights as well but easily abused. So not 100% legal but don't think employees can fight back should they discovered slack messages and emails are compromised.
Slack even has a feature to export messages.
Any major finance company is going to have to log and retain all convos for 5 years. They are pretty vocal and transparent about it
It is legal. Never use work equipment for any sensitive personal stuff.
This is why you don't shit where you eat. Even if they don't do it another employee can rat you out for crazy shit.
