How difficult is it to set up your dev box, aside from installing the vanilla public dev tools? If you got a new machine and installed your IDE would downloading the code from source repository be sufficient to compile it and run its unit tests? Or do you have additional MANUAL setup steps that are needed just for that project: - installing specialized plugins - copying files - customizing the dev environment so it can download proprietary packages - installing certificates or other secrets for unit tests to work - running setup scripts - reading dev box setup instructions - any other manual steps needed fire setup How many of the above are true for your project?
Installing specific legacy dev tools in a very specific order is required.
After an apt-get and two compile-from-source installs you are up and running. oh. but don't forget the goat sacrifice, unless it is a Windows build which requires two virgins and a goat.
Would two virgin goats satisfy the requirements?
Still gotta install Android sdk
I'd give that a pass as it is an option in VS installer and is also a very common dev tool
Git, bazel, clone, done.
Join security groups, clone, run init script, run a script to download secrets based on your security groups, run script to generate temp sln, install an older version of some components and you're good
At snap it’s a disaster, 8+. No regard for dev productivity
Damn, you all call yourselves tech companies
Everything automated end to end. Ever heard of docker and Jenkins??
Ever heard about Microsoft??
I’ve heard about source depot
