I feel Amazon is not your place if you are in the beginning stages of your career, figuring out which type of work you like, can't deal with tight deadlines, can't deal with b!tch managers, can't deal with pip around your neck, ultra fat TC, like to work in super cool tech. Edit : Also I've observed Amazon tends to make people bitter, tends to make you low doesn't matter how up beat you were. And if you managed to stay for more than a couple of years it'll make you a d!ick without empathy (which I feel is very important if you want to become a PM - absence of this quality is what makes sh!t managers in the first place) My two cents. #tech #amazon #pip YOE : 3 TC : 250k
What’s the breakdown of your TC? And looks like you are in the early stages of your career- would you stick around and suck it up if they kept showering you with RSUs?
I'm already looking for an external switch.
Haha I just signed... I’m in the Alexa org in Boston so maybe it’ll be better
Retail, AWS and Alexa are the PIP machines. I'm in Boston too. I haven't heard nice things about Alexa.
I didn’t know AWS was also in Boston. Also the Kendall square office?
Are you ok OP?
Could not agree more.
Is pip that aggressive for new grads? I heard it was mostly the L4 industry hires
I’m sad to hear that OP :( You can consider retail / kindle org - seems like it’s less drama at those org
Yeah I heard Kindle is chill. But not retail.
Can confirm.
How is the CS Tech org?
I’m in CSTech and it’s pretty chill.
What is CS Tech org?
How about AwS ?
I work in AWS. Everything I said holds true. Especially PIP. More intake hence more PIPs and exits.
Dammm. I just cleared a phone interview with them. Why amazon has this problem. A wide majority of them saying this in blind. I mean what if you are a good programmer and not a low performer? Would be still having pip fear and exits ? What is the ultimate reason for this is happening to majority of people ? Is that because of low performer ? Or because they are not good at politics ? Or its because of personal conflicts ?
