Early in Q1, they announced no increase in base pay for all employees not getting promotion. Then, they announced Permanent-reduction of bonus targets by 50%. Then RSUs price dropped and didn't recover even after tech market recovered significantly. Now they announced, reduction in benefits and total comp range across the board. 1. No free food in any offices (no snacks as well. Just free water and coffee) 2. One Office closure 3. Reduction in benefits amounts to $9k a year per employee 4. Reduction in RSU refreshers 5. Strict geo tiers for remote employees (further reduction in total comp for remote employees) On top of that, work pressure and expectations within the company are high. Worst WLB across the board
I thought msft was the only corp that said no salary raise this year
We got no raise at end of year and now they're applying geo tiers to equity as well as salary (salary was already geo tiered).
I don't understand you people tbh. WFH becomes a thing because of that virus. Now that virus is gone, and you ppl are being a diode, only allowing what you want to keep? And when that is not successful, you label others as sheep or XYZ? C'mon..
RTO or hybrid ?
there is no RTO, you can be fully remote
No talks about RTO yet
How many got laid off?
Only recruiters were laid off a few months ago
Why is the culture there so bad too, based on the blind reviews
It’s due to the relationship with GM. We have to deliver on our goals VERY aggressively, or else they will stop signing the checks. It’s almost like the company itself is on a PIP. It feels like each year could be Cruises last. This leads to a highly toxic environment where leadership pushes that pressure down the org chart so that everyone in the company feels the heat.
Sounds like a Silicon Valley, SW/HW company, is managed by Detroit old dudes/gals who don't know much about things outside traditional automobile/machinery/manufacturing/mechanical engineering /electrical (not even electronics) engineering. Is this true?
Do y’all get codes? Want to try out the cars
Yes … all employees get codes
how much reduction in refereshers, can you please give some example?
We don't know the details
I’m assuming they did this to avoid layoffs? Ultimately cruise has some rough days ahead, and given the immense cash burn this is not surprising. Hope cruise can execute on their intended roadmap.
Would you prefer not to have these cost-cutting measures, but instead have more layoffs?
