Dont lose hope is the moral of the story

Hi All, This post is to boost the morale of those who are preparing for a new job. Here is my story: Last year I tried to make a switch, I tried at few places and was rejected everywhere. I used to think I am a loser. My inbox was flooding with rejection emails. I stopped applying to jobs, focused on my weekness, Practiced coding / system design and talked to people who have succeeded. I literally studied so very hard that I forgot so many things like going to gym, my mom’s birthday, my brother’s anniversary etc etc. All the time one or the other question used to wander inside my mind. After 6-7 months of properly focused study, I applied to a lot of jobs. I landed up getting 4 job offers including 2 FAANGs. I had calls from twitter, dropbox and many more, whom I could not even entertain. The need is to get a motivation which drives you crazy for your preparation. So if you are facing a hard time dealing with rejections, then do not worry. Take your time, accept failures as learning steps, be hopeful, positive and patient. Things will work out and the you will be happy and proud of yourself someday. current tc: 140 yoe 4 Aside: Thanks people on blind for all your help/ guidance. There were many people who helped me anonymously and selflessly 🙏🏻😇

Yay!! Can you share: 1. Prep strategy 2. Your offers? 😁

Prep strategy may vary person to person. I used to take one leetcode question, spend 10-15 mins on solving it. If not solved, read the submitted solutions and move on. Again revisit the same question after a week or so. For System design I read lot of stuffs, like how to build scalable system, distributed system, what are best cache services etc etc. Its always good to give examples while designing a system. I started applying when I thought i can clear tier 2 companies. Offers, apple, fb and two other tier 2 companies

Congrats fam! Might need to embark on this journey of my own as well. Would you suggest continuing applying while studying? I spend 30mins - 1 hour everyday just applying to jobs that fit my job search alerts

Yes, look at the posts where people say they failed 20 onsites before getting an offer. Once I realized a lot of people here failed more than I even tried, I realized I really needed to step my game up if I wanted to change my life Also update LinkedIn, I got a number of interviews just by having a good profile

I would suggest, while studying apply to the companies which are not your dream companies. Once you get an offer from a small company or a company of not your choice, it boosts your confidence. It also helps you evaluate where you stand currently and what your weak areas are. Work on them and then apply to the companies you would like to work with.
