https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/08/doordash-sells-shares-at-102-in-ipo-pricing-above-range.html How is this still a viable business? Even with all the covid surge in food delivery they are losing money: "still reported a net loss for the first three quarters of $149 million, down from $534 million in the same period of 2019. " It's essentially cashing in on covid and when restaurant opens up who's going to continue ordering food? #doordash #ipo
I'll buy Airbnb instead
🤣
Airbnb is for sure a better story especially long term. They likely will see more reservation when things go back to normal. Also will benefit from remote work trend. For doordash, they don't have any diversification and will likely lose customers when things settle
Have you looked at uber or tesla...
Some believe they will be the next Amazon. It’s not about food delivery, but controlling last mile logistics for any number of applications.
Yes that is often the logic for a valuation that cannot be justified by actual business results....everyone cant be the next Tesla....
DoorDash overtook Uber and Grubhub in 7 years, a no name startup founded by 3 college kids overtook public companies with billions of dollars in the bank. Just think what they will do in 7 more years as a public company with unlimited funds. Yeah investors see this too.
There’s plenty of stocks that look like a bubble e.g. snowflake Tesla palantir. What’s wrong with one more
That's when you have a bubble when all major stocks look like that.
It’s 1999 reloaded. There is no doubt stock market and new gen companies especially are in a .com type bubble. these bubbles can last more than we think but no doubt that at the end it will end in tears.
I personally feel nervous about the bubble popping 😬 not sure what to do since I’m not an experienced investor
There is a possibility of cultural shift in consumption. However DoorDash doesn't seem like they are capable of driving one
Why do you think so?
